We’ve partnered with Peace Corps and Grassroots Soccer (GRS) to bring malaria and HIV education to youth in our community.
Grassroots Soccer is an international NGO, founded in Zimbabwe in 2002. They partner with organizations in Africa, Asia, and South America to engage youth through football and inspire them towards healthy, preventative behaviours. Together with our Peace Corps volunteers, we conducted four GRS sessions at a secondary school called Vision Land. Students in grades Senior 1 through Senior 4 were taught malaria prevention, proper care of mosquito nets, and how to differentiate between malaria myths and facts. We look forward to continued partnership with Vision Land and to bringing Grassroots Soccer to more schools in our area.
